I was watching The Laramie Project today. I love that TV movie, even though it makes me sob like a baby. It’s terrifying and uplifting all at the same time. I haven’t seen it beginning to end since it was new, but what I noticed today, that within three minutes, Richard Alpert and Daniel Faraday showed up. Five minutes later, in came Benjamin Linus. So cool, since those three actors all interacted on Lost.
Mind totally blown a half hour later when Kelvin showed up. I had to go to Lostpedia to look up that character’s name; he was the guy who proceeded Desmond in the hatch.
I used to love going to Lostpedia every day. I hope someday we get another TV show that inspires that kind of devotion on the Internet.
Seeing those four made me, almost, want to watch Lost again. I’ve seen the first five seasons many times because I used to rewatch it before each new season. Even though I own all six, I have yet to watch Season Six through to the end again. I think that’s because I loved Lost and no one was going to tell me it wasn’t the greatest show of all time. Now that I am no longer under its spell, I think I’m afraid to watch it because it’ll collapse.
It took a long time to get the Matthew Shepard Hate Crime legislation passed but it was finally made into law by President Obama in 2009. But like every law, it obviously doesn’t stop the haters. Justice worked in Laramie, Wyoming before it was a bill, but not Sanford, Florida after it was.
It’s a great TV movie and I highly recommend it, even if it does make you want to watch Lost again. It must be exhausting going through life hating people.
